Setup

The assumptions are:     
  * Network is DHCP based. (devices connected to the network, automatically obtains an IP address)     
 * The device is connected to a network switch, or a router that has multiple LAN connections.     
 * There is a computer that is connected to the same switch or router that the device is using.      
 The setup for the device is as follow:            
1.  Plug in the ethernet cable into the blue "Internet" port on the device,
 on one end, and to a switch or router on the other end.    
  2.  Plug in an ethernet cable into any of the yellow "Ethernet" ports on the device,
 on one end, and to a computer on the other end.     
 3.  Plug in the power adapter.     
 4.  Plug in the phone into the "Phone1" port on the device.     
 5.  Should hear a dial tone when the phone is off the hook.      
6.  On the computer, invoke a web browser and enter the IP address of the device as the URL.    
      6.1. The default IP address: http://192.168.15.1        
  6.2. The default Username: admin        
  6.3. The default Password: admin     
 7.  The Linksys Phone Adapter Configuration page should be displayed

 8.  The "Setup" page will display.   Figure 2: Linksys RTP300 Setup page      
 9.  Click on the "Voice" tab. [Figure 3]

 10. Click on the "Admin login" link. [Figure 4]

 11. There is no admin password as the default. [Figure 5]

12. Click on the "Line 1" sub-tab.     
 13. Edit the fields as described in the SIP Network Configuration section         
   14. Once the device has been reconfigured, pick up the phone and make an outbound call. 



SIP Network Configuration

 

     1.  In the "Line 1" sub-tab, change the following fields: [Figure 6]            
1.1  Ensure that the "SIP Port:" is set to 5060

    2.  Under the "Proxy and Registration" section:          
  2.2.  Proxy: sip.example.com          
  2.2.  Register: no           
 2.3.  Make Call Without Reg: yes    
        2.4.  Register Expires: 3600        
    2.5.  Ans Call Without Reg: no     
 3.  Under the "Subscriber Information" section:      
      3.1.  Display Name: screenName          
  3.2.  User ID: screenName           
 3.3.  Password: password 
       3.4.  Use Auth ID: yes         
   3.5.  Auth ID:

      4.1.  Preferred Codec: G711u    
  5.  Ensure that all other settings are identical to the figures shown above [Figure 6-7]  
    6.  Click on "Submit All Changes"   
   7.  The reset message page should be displayed and will automatically update to display the "Info" page. [Figure 8]
